In the
presence of Almighty God and of our own free will, we whose names are
affixed to this document believe that it is the right and duty of each
member of this church to determine his own beliefs according to the dictates
of his conscience, guided by the Word of God and the revelations of
His Love
through Jesus Christ. We further declare our belief in the Fatherhood
of God and the brotherhood of all men. We promise to do the will of
God as we know it or shall here after learn it. We recognize in Christ
the way, the truth and the life. We confess our purpose to learn of
Him,
to become like Him,
and to advance
His
power in the hearts and lives of men. We
recognize the Churches as fellowships of those who love Christ's way and are
joined together for mutual encouragement and increased power in working at
the common task of building the city of God here and now. We covenant with
this Church as our Church, desiring to love it's members; being eager to
sustain it's worship and work; seeking it's peace, purity and increase; and
promising to do what we can to share it's part in transforming the world
into the kingdom of God.
Witness this 17th day of May, 1970 the first anniversary of the first
meeting of the founders of Heritage Congregational Church at Berea, Ohio.
